Luminous Surrender

The properties of the pigmented materials that form this abstract painting are as evident as the colors. Brush strokes fade and solidify in an abstracted, rhythmically blended background while the shapes in the foreground pop sharply into more representative forms reminiscent of an idealized meadow. "Luminous Surrender" was inspired by the cycles of growth and regeneration. This tall painting on gallery wrapped canvas is composed of peaceful garden hues in soft greens, lavenders, pinks and yellow acrylics with oil pigment stick highlights. As the line work blurs vertically, and the shapes ambiguously dissolve into something resembling clouds, the overall feeling is resilience and intangible optimism.
